The AMAzing Series of financial education seminars and workshops kicks off on 27 February, with the 2024 Global Economic Outlook Seminar, featuring special guest speaker Paul Bloxham - HSBC Chief Economist providing his outlook for the 2024 global economy and its impact on Australia.
PRESENTATION SYNOPSIS
The inflation fight continues in 2024. Although inflation has passed its peak, it is still too high. Interest rates are expected to have to stay elevated for some time yet, and growth will likely be sluggish in 2024, to get inflation down. Globally, 2024 also brings considerable geopolitical uncertainty to navigate, with elections across the world, including in the US, India and Indonesia. For Australia, a focus on growth engines is needed, including on the energy transition and grasping the benefits of strong global trade and financial connections. Reform to lift productivity ought also be a policy priority, given a very poor productivity performance post-pandemic.
